Difference between Indoor & Outdoor glass lifting machines

Difference between Indoor & Outdoor glass lifting machines

Another good set of questions from our website contact form:

"What are the difference between your indoor and outdoor glass lifters?

It's a good question. It's actually a simple answer: tires.

Honestly. That's it. It's the more thoroughly-explained answer that's more fun.

Indoor Tires

Our SmartLift® line of glass vacuum lifters are mostly separated by the type of tire used. The indoor tires are specifically designed to be more delicate when traveling over indoor wide and tile surfaces. They're gentler, meaning they're more apt to not leave marks when traveling.

Outdoor Tires

The outdoor models typically come with out outdoor tires - unless you give us a good reason to do it otherwise. They're the tires that can handle the uneven, rocky terrain that is often found on construction sites and off the blacktop.

All Tires are Foam-Filled, Puncture Proof

Both the indoor and outdoor tires are foam-filled and puncture-proof. The technology that goes into both types of tires helps secure loads in case of accidents or in case someone runs the machine over sharp edges. Going with foam instead of air or nitrous oxide means that there is nothing in the tire to pop.

This means the loads stay level, easier to maneuver, and safer.

Everything else on the machines is interchangeable

The beauty of these glass lifters is that all the other attachments are interchangeable. They work on both the indoor and outdoor machines. This includes custom vacuum positions and specialized attachments like our fire door rated pieces.

Can indoor glass vacuum lifters be used outdoor, and vice-versa?

Yup. It's nowhere near a perfect overlap, thus the specialization, but there are many situations where either machine can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments.

It depends on the terrain, weather, and load sizes. If each of these conditions are neutral enough, then typically, either type machine with their specialized tires will work.

How do you know?

Honestly? Contact us. Let us know your surfaces, weather, and load sizes. From there we'll be able to help you determine whether or not they'll be completely interchangeable.

Otherwise, indoor or outdoor, we'll have you covered. Contact us today to learn more about how our vacuum lifters can help your project.
