Winterizing Lifting Machines. 2016-2017 Seasonal Edition.

Winterizing Lifting Machines. 2016-2017 Seasonal Edition.

Welcome to the bittersweet time of year. It's the time of year where construction starts to slow down in several parts of the country and the holidays are right around the corner.

This also means it's time to make sure the equipment is, and we apologize for using this word now, winterized so they can handle the tough weather months.

Better now than later. When it's cold outside. And you're on deadline.

Weather stresses all machinery, from saws to Spydercranes. Prolonged exposure can and will short lifespans of even the most durable parts and accessories.

Inspections as well. "But, we just had preventative maintenance inspections this summer!"

Yeah. But that was summer, when it was hot, and possibly humid, when all the materials were prone to expansion and swelling. Now, they're about to contract and restrict.

It's the time to start looking over every nook and cranny of your machines. This is when we inspect all the seals to make sure they are still solid. We check lubricants to make sure they're still smooth and fluid and that, overall, everything is still good to go.

End of Life part replacement and audit

This is also the time of year to check to make sure all the parts are in active, working condition and are not nearing their end-of-life expectancy. Those that are nearing the end of their expected usefulness get replaced.

It's like getting a new machine for Christmas.
