"We're still using our Spydercrane. Can we extend the rental agreement?"
"99 times out of 100, the answer is yes."
That one time would be out of respect for those unforeseen circumstances, those Murphy's Law moments that pop up at the worst possible time.
For example, right now, as we right this, we're in the heat of peak season. There is always the chance that machine you're renting is due for service. It might be a situation where we have to bring it in for maintenance and then, technically, at that point it would be simpler for you to rent a new machine.
Well, in the entire history of the company, using our fingers we can probably count on one hand the number of times we told a customer they couldn't extend their rental time. There would probably be a finger or two left over to update our LinkedIn statuses on our phones, or something.
We do have recurring and perpetual rental agreements. These are usually for our companies who have our machines out in the field but don't have enough resources to stretch their maintenance teams. This way, we are brought on as a type of contractor role.
The other effortless way to extend rental agreements would be to call well in advance, at least a couple weeks in advance.
