What is a Spydercrane?

It’s versatile, powerful, and mobile. It can lift projects to new heights and yet fits through doorways. And those legs, they stand out as much as they stick out.

A machine that draws as much interest as the Spydercrane generates quite a few questions from prospective buys. This article helps provide a few answers to those questions.

What separates them from other mobile cranes?

The Spydercrane is best classified as a mini crawler crane. What separates them from traditional mobile cranes are those stabilizing legs which allow the machines to lift heavy loads. And despite what some people think and as sci-fi cool as it would be, the Spydercranes don’t walk on those legs. Mylar tracks and multi-speed running motors get the cranes around. This feature allows the legs to be folded up so the cranes can make it through doorways (depending on which crane is purchased).

How much can they lift?

The maximum lifting capacity depends on the machine:

• URW 295 : 6,450 lbs. @ 4.6 ft.
• URW 376 : 6,475 lbs. @ 8.2 ft.
• URW 546 : 8,920 lbs. @ 8 ft.
• URW 706 : 13,330 lbs. @ 9.8 ft.

The bigger the machine, the heavier the load they can lift.

How compact can they get?

They can become this compact:

• URW 295 : fit through standard doorway.
• URW 376 : fit through standard double doorway.
• URW 546 : fit through standard double doorway.
• URW 706: fit through standard double doorway.

Note: this is when they are prepared for traveling / storage. They have to kick out and plant those legs in order to do the lifting.

What is their turning radius?

All Spydercranes offer 360-degree turning capabilities. Though we wouldn’t really recommend spinning around in them like they were carnival rides.

Are they safe?

Incredibly safe. Safety features include turn-over projection, over-winding protection, automatic hook stow system and more. If you don’t feel like being in the machine to do the lifting, each Spydercrane comes with a remote control so you can be off to the side whild the machine is operating.

Does one buy or rent a Spydercrane?

Either. It’s up to you. Spydercranes are available for purchase or rent. For those who have a Spydercrane, we provide maintenance and repairs as well.
