What to Ask Before Buying a Glass Lifting Machine

So you are in the glass business and you are trying to figure out what the difference is in all of the different glass lift brands. Do they all install windows or glass? Yes, I am sure they do or the companies wouldn't be in business. Although with all products there are some questions to ask that will ensure you are purchasing the best equipment for you and your team.

What is the operational weight of the machine?

In today's building environment and the expanded use of post tension concrete the allowed weight of equipment used on the floor line is lighter than ever. For this reason SmartLift® has designed their glass lifting machines to be the pound for pound heavy weight lifter.

With 6 unique models SmartLift can provide you with equipment that has the lowest operating weight while providing the greatest amount of lift capacity. SmartLift also designs the units with removable counterweights to make sure we can get in and out of the smallest of elevators.

What kind of service is provided after the sale?

When you are purchasing a glass handling machine for a specific project or for day to day use the one thing that you cant have is the machine breaking down. Although everyone would love to say that their machine will never break the reality is everything will break down at some point.

At SmartLift US, we understand the financial implications of having a machine down on your job. For this reason we have over 200K in part inventory and any part ordered before 4 pm CST. is shipped same day. We also have service teams that are available to come to your job site or office.

What is better hydraulic or non hydraulic machines?

When installing raw glass one of the most important things is to make sure you have extreme precision. The reason for this is because on most installs you will be lucky to have 1/4 to 1/2 inch of gap to install the glass or window.

On hydraulic systems there is a valve that has to open and close that reduces the precision of the machine as well as causes a bouncing effect. Hydraulic systems also have a higher maintenance cost as well as the potential to cause large spills on projects.

When removing the hydraulics from the machine it provides the operator with 1/64th of a inch movements as well as eliminates the risk of potential environmental hazards and spills. SmartLift Provides both hydraulic and non hydraulic units to make sure we have the right one for you.

Look At the Hoses

These mobile glass lifts are being purchased to lift glass up to 2200 lbs. and are being used both in high rise and residential work. One of the main reasons to purchase one of these machines is to improve the safety of your men.

At SmartLift US, we do not take any unnecessary chances when it comes to our hose selection. All of our used are industrial braided hoses and are connected with threaded connectors. Do you really want to trust a plastic hose, hose clamp or cheap plastic connector to hold up to 2200 lbs. of glass on the edge of a building?

The details matter

When it comes to most things in life when you look at them from a far they might all look the same. The closer you get and start looking at the details you quickly realize there are some major differences.

At SmartLift US, we like to say the only thing we have in common with the other lifting brand's is the tires and cups but even those are different. We have locations coast to coast and would love to schedule a demonstration so we can show you the SmartLift® difference. All of our machines are available for purchase and rental.
